Dry Cleaner Electricity Saving Project
Funding: $256,200
Major energy savings will be made in the drycleaning industry through this energy education program to improve efficiency in drycleaning businesses from Sydney to Newcastle.
Building on a bi-lingual model developed for Asian drycleaners by the Ethnic Communities Council of NSW, the Drycleaning Institute will provide energy audits to participating drycleaners to identify energy waste from boilers and provide incentives to fix any problems.
With boilers accounting for 50% to 90% of drycleaning energy costs, the potential for savings by each business is huge. The program will save 855 MWh of electricity and 913 tonnes of greenhouse gasses a year.
