| Fair Dismissal Code |
| Most drycleaners will come under the new industrial relations changes effective today in regards to termination of an employee. The attachement will outline the Fiar Dismissal Code checklist that is applicable to terminating an employee. |

| Electricity Savings Project |
The Department of Environment & Climate Change and the DIA in NSW have launched the Drycleaner Electricity Savings Project at a recent industry event held in March. Bernard Carlon of DECC spoke of the intiatives of the NSW Government in supporting small business address the issues of climate change. Philip Johns DIA CEO stated that the industry was pleased to work with the DECC to realise savings in electricity use in drycleaners and that all drycleaners will benefit from this initiative.
The first stage of the project is underway with a number of energy audits currently being performed.
This program is open to all drycleaners running an electric boiler and enquiries about the program should be directed to state office on 02 4993 3366. |

| Wage Increase 2008 |
| Members are advised that the decision of the Australian Fair Pay Commission in July to increase wages has now been applied to the Drycleaning Award 2000 and will take effect from October 1, 2008. The full pay shcedule is available in the members section of the website. |
