General
• Catherine and Howard had a meeting with Kent Hughes, QA/QC Garment Recovery Co-Ordinator and Veronika Pralija, Global Sourcing Manager at Zimmerman to discuss the ongoing issue with the cleaning of Zimmerman garments
• Catherine attended the quarterly Small Business Advisory Meeting with EPA Victoria. This group discusses the impact of the new General Environmental Duty in Victoria and how it impacts small businesses
• Catherine – meeting with new marketing manager at Choice Energy, could be some price relief near the end of the year
• Planning for DIA Board meeting to be held in Melbourne on 22 September at the Holiday Inn
• Work started on next issue of TwinClean newsletter due to go out in mid—September
• Finalised contract with a new service provider for the DIA’s new CRM (customer relationship management) system, new website and website hosting services
• Discussions underway with a business broker and the possibility of working with them for member’s wanting to sell their business
Technical
• 3 complaints from members of the public received by the DIA office
• 13 calls/emails to the office from DIA members looking for technical assistance on a specific customer issue
• Helped a DIA member save around $700 in a compensation claim by correctly interpreting the Flair Claims Guide
• Two technical bulletins sent out to members covering:
- ITAL report on Grace Loves Lace wedding dress
- Delamination of fabrics by Howard Duffy
• Discussions with Brian Johnson from the DLI in the USA about the possible launch date of the new accreditation program that Australian drycleaners can undertake
• Work beginning on running a Safe Handling of Solvents course in WA sometime next year
Marketing/Social Media
• 18 Google Business reviews answered on behalf of different members
• 4 social media posts prepared and sent out to members to use on their social media page along with suggested wording
